Lakewood Dental Dental Veneers

Cosmetic dental veneers correct issues such as stains, gaps, chips, or uneven teeth. Learn how dental veneers can help you restore your smile.

If you’re looking for the best dental veneers Lakewood has to offer, then look no further than Lakewood Dental Group! Our talented dentists, Dr. Shaun Sigurdson and Dr. Mihir Patel, have years of experience improving their patients’ smiles with quality porcelain veneers.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are extremely thin shells of tooth-colored porcelain that our dentists adhere to the front surface of patients’ teeth. Simply put–porcelain veneers are natural-looking covers that our team can use to hide minor smile flaws. The result is a dramatically renewed smile that totally transforms a patient’s appearance and boosts their confidence.

What dental issues can veneers hide?

Dr. Sigurdson and Dr. Patel use porcelain veneers to hide slight imperfections, such as:

  • Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth
  • Misshapen, uneven, or worn teeth
  • Slightly misaligned teeth
  • Large gaps in between teeth
  • Stained or discolored teeth

What is the dental veneer procedure like?

First, patients should schedule a consultation to discuss veneers with Dr. Sigurdson and Dr. Patel. This initial consultation will allow our team to verify a patient’s candidacy.

If a patient is an ideal candidate, then Dr. Sigurdson and Dr. Patel will begin preparing the teeth for treatment. This involves removing a thin layer of tooth enamel so that the veneers adhere better and sit perfectly flush against the teeth.

Next, Dr. Sigurdson and Dr. Patel will take an impression of the patient’s teeth. Our team will send these impressions to a trusted dental laboratory so that they can create the patient’s unique dental veneers.

It may take the dental laboratory approximately two to four weeks to complete the patient’s porcelain veneers. Our team will place temporary veneers over the patient’s teeth to protect them from damage while they are waiting for their permanent veneers. Once our Lakewood team receives the finished product, we will schedule another appointment to bond the patient’s veneers in place.

Dr. Sigurdson and Dr. Patel will carefully remove the temporary veneers before cleaning and etching the patient’s teeth. Then, our team will then use a strong dental cement to permanently bond the veneers in place. Finally, patients will have a new, beautiful smile that they’ll never want to hide!

What are the benefits of porcelain veneers?

The primary benefit of porcelain veneers is that they are a cost-effective solution to completely cover minor dental flaws. However, there are many other benefits, including:

  • Dental veneers look incredibly lifelike
  • They are highly customizable
  • Porcelain veneers are resistant to stains
  • They are extremely durable
  • They vastly improve a patient’s aesthetic, self-image, and confidence

How long do dental veneers last?

Dental veneers are permanent, but that does not mean that they will not need repairing or replacing. Veneers are a lifelong commitment because teeth without enamel are likely to develop significant dental damage, decay, and infection if they are not shielded by a protective covering.

Subsequently, properly caring for dental veneers is of utmost importance. Our team advises patients to follow these guidelines for maintaining and protecting their porcelain veneers:

  • Avoid damaging behavior, such as ice chewing, nail-biting, or using teeth to open packaging
  • Brush at least twice daily with a non-abrasive toothpaste
  • Floss at least once daily
  • Schedule regular dental checkups and cleanings with our dentists every six months

If patients adhere to these guidelines, then they could enjoy their porcelain veneers for well over a decade!
