If you’re looking for more information, stay with us. Below, we answer the most common Spark Clear Aligner FAQs so you can make an informed decision about your smile.

Does Spark work as well as metal braces?

Yes! For patients with mild to moderately crooked teeth, Spark Clear Aligners work just as effectively as traditional braces. Both systems gradually move teeth into proper alignment using controlled pressure.
The difference? Spark aligners are nearly invisible, more comfortable, and removable—making treatment easier to integrate into your normal lifestyle.

How does Spark Clear Aligners treatment work?

The process begins with a 3D digital scan of your teeth. These images allow our team to design a precise treatment plan and create custom-made aligner trays.

  • Your scans are sent to the Spark lab

  • Aligners are crafted using clear, flexible TruGEN™ material

  • You’ll wear your aligners 20–22 hours per day

  • Every 1–2 weeks, you switch to a new set to continue tooth movement

Each new tray makes small, controlled adjustments. With consistent wear, Spark treatment can transform your smile in as little as six to 18 months, depending on your case.

How do I care for my Spark Clear Aligners?

Caring for Spark aligners is simple but essential. Patients should:

  • Remove aligners while eating

  • Brush teeth and rinse trays before putting them back in

  • Avoid hot water (it can warp the aligners)

  • Brush aligners gently with a soft toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste

  • Clean aligners daily with warm water or an approved cleaning solution

Good oral hygiene is also important throughout treatment:

  • Brush twice a day

  • Floss daily

  • Rinse with an alcohol-free mouthwash

Will Spark Aligners hurt?

Because Spark trays gently shift your teeth, mild pressure or discomfort is normal, especially when switching to a new set.
This typically fades within 24–48 hours. Over-the-counter pain relievers can help manage discomfort if needed.

Can I smoke while wearing Spark Aligners?

Smoking is strongly discouraged during Spark treatment.
Nicotine and tobacco can stain the clear aligners, and the heat from smoking may warp the plastic, affecting your results.

If you choose not to quit, the best practices are:

  • Remove aligners before smoking

  • Brush thoroughly afterward

  • Consider vape products only if approved by your provider (cooler vapor reduces risk of tray damage)

I’ve had braces before—can I still get Spark?

Absolutely. Many patients experience shifting years after braces, especially if they stopped wearing a retainer. Spark Clear Aligners are an excellent solution for realigning teeth without returning to metal braces.
